Ono no Emishi (小野毛人)

ONO no Emishi (year of birth unknown - 677) was a government official who lived during the Asuka period. His father was ONO no Imoko. ONO no Kenu was his son.

The details of Emishi's career are unknown, but it is known that he served as a member of Dajokan (Grand Council of State) and held an additional post as the Minister of Justice during the reign of the Emperor Tenmu. In the early Edo period, the epitaph of Emishi was discovered in a mountain near Sudo-jinja Shrine located in Kamitakano, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, and is currently designated as a National Treasure.
